The magnificent sunset sends a rainbow of color over the sea in this contemporary oil painting. During this special time, there is a magical spectacle when God paints the sky!

This is a special painting to me because it was something I created after losing our sweet dog, Chula.  Chula loved to chase seagulls on the beach, and she traveled with us to many seashores in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Texas.  Although she didn't like the water, she loved to chase the waves along the shore.

I miss her so very much. I miss the pitter-patter of her little paws. The way she would tuck us in at night by going to the foot of the bed and not leaving until we were asleep.  I miss the way she would come running when I would cut an apple or a cucumber--those were some of her favorite treats.

We have a lake behind our house, and she loved to chase the fish at the water's edge. They would splash about when she would come running.   As she got older, she settled for just sitting there on the little hill overlooking the lake. Before she passed, I watched her sit on the hill just staring at the lake.  Little did I know it would be the last time she would sit there so proudly. Pets leave us much too soon.

Chula is with her previous owners in heaven. An elderly couple had her before we did.  It is quite a miracle on how Chula became ours.  A friend of mine  brought us together with this sweet doggie that needed a new home.  The elderly lady survived her husband for a short time and didn't know who got her little dog.   I found out later, by accident, that I worked with the elderly couple's niece who was able to tell her Aunt that Chula was in a happy home!

A friend of mine sent me the Rainbow Bridge poem.

Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of all its beautiful colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who were sick, hurt or in pain are made whole again.
There is only one thing missing, they are not with their special person who loved them so much on earth.
So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up!
The eyes are staring and this one runs from the group!
You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet, you take him in your arms and hug him.
He licks and kisses your face again and again - and you look once more into the eyes of your best friend and trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be apart.
