My Quality Art Supplies

Favorite Oil Paints, Easel, Pochade, Tripod and other Art Supplies

There are many brands of paint, but I have not tried very many.  The choices can be overwhelming.  I researched what top artists in the country were using. I found what works for me right away.   Paints and other supplies are expensive so it helps to research the products you use first.  Quality paints and supplies also ensure that my art collectors purchase quality paintings.

I love color and have bought many paint colors, but over the years have narrowed down.  I also want to use products that are safer for our environ and for me.  For example, I do not buy any cadmium paints.  I like to use Dick Blick's website to check for toxicity in paint!   There are many reds and yellows and blues that don't have the toxic chemicals so I just don't need toxic colors.  Before I started painting with oil paints years ago, I used acrylics.  Now,  I just use them for light wash on the canvas to tone them before I paint.  I use only professional artist grade paint! If I need to, I use a little Gamblin solvent free gel to thin the paint.   I find that quality paints I use do just what I want them to do right out of the tube so I don't need the gel often!

I usually buy my supplies and Dick Blick or Jerry's Artarama. Sometimes if I need a tube of Winsor and Newton, I will go to Hobby Lobby with a coupon!
